Cost Minimal—candles, symbolic items, and offerings already on hand from prior rituals.
Equipment
3 Candles (Gold for Idunn, Blue for Bragi, Green for Prosperity)
1 Chalice or cup
1 Bell, chime, or singing bowl
1 Small bowl of water
1 Journal or parchment
Ingredients
A few apple slices or dried fruits
A written poem, song, or verse
A coin, clover, or token of prosperity
Instructions
Step 1: Setting the Space
Dim the lights or gather near a hearth or candlelight.
Arrange your three candles in a triangle formation: gold to the east, blue to the north, and green to the south.
Center your chalice and symbolic offerings before them.
Step 2: Invocation of Gratitude
Light each candle in turn, saying:
“For Idunn, whose apples promise renewal, I give thanks. For Bragi, whose voice kindles inspiration, I give thanks. For the spirits of prosperity, whose blessings fill my home, I give thanks.”
Pause to feel the warmth and glow of the flames uniting their light.
Step 3: The Reflection of Renewal
Gaze into the water bowl and let the candlelight reflect upon its surface.
Speak softly:
“In this reflection I see what was and what may yet be.I release what no longer serves, and I welcome the dawn of renewal.”
Drop a single apple slice or dried fruit into the water as an offering to Idunn’s eternal youth and regeneration.
Step 4: Honoring Inspiration
Hold your written poem, song, or heartfelt words in your hands.
Read or sing them aloud, dedicating them to Bragi.
Allow the sound of your voice to fill the air, even if softly—each word becoming a thread of magic spun into the coming year.
Step 5: Inviting Prosperity and Joy
Lift your coin, clover, or prosperity charm and say:
“From the joy of Yule to the promise of spring,May abundance, laughter, and harmony sing.”
Place the charm upon your altar or near your doorway as a symbol of ongoing luck.
Step 6: The Final Blessing
Raise your chalice of wassail or cider and offer a toast:
“To Yule’s blessings that linger in heart and hearth—To the year ahead, may harmony guide us all.”
Take a sip and sprinkle a few drops into the water bowl as a libation to the gods and spirits of renewal.
Ring the bell or chime three times, sealing your space with sound and intention.
