A homemade or store-bought apple creationpie, tart, cider, etc.
Optional: apple-scented incense or essential oil for anointing
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Sacred Space
Cleanse the area with smoke, sound, or gentle sweeping motions.
Arrange your altar with apples, flowers, and your chosen candle.
If indoors, place the altar near a window so the moonlight or starlight can touch it.
Step 2: Invocation of Idunn
Light the candle and raise your chalice, speaking aloud:
“Idunn, Keeper of the Apples, Nurturer of Youth and Renewal,I honor you as winter turns toward light.Bless this space, this fruit, and this heart with your eternal vitality.”
Visualize golden light radiating from your heart into the apples before you—glowing with the warmth of renewal.
Step 3: Offerings to Idunn
Place apples on the altar, saying:
“For life unending and the promise of spring.”
Add your apple-infused creation (such as a pie or cider) as a symbol of devotion.
Arrange flowers or potted plants around the apples, honoring Idunn’s connection to life stirring beneath the snow.
Step 4: Reflection and Gratitude
Sit quietly before the altar. Reflect on where in your life you seek renewal—body, heart, or spirit.
Speak aloud your gratitude for the cycles of growth and rest, saying:
“In the stillness of winter, I trust the seed within.Idunn, guide my renewal and keep my spirit evergreen.”
Take a sip of cider or juice, sharing in symbolic communion with Idunn.
Step 5: Closing the Rite
Offer thanks to the goddess:
“Gracious Idunn, I thank you for your presence and blessing.May your promise of renewal echo through my days.”
Extinguish the candle. Leave the apples or flowers as an offering overnight, then return them to the earth the next day.
