Ingredients
1Bundle juniper or cedarfor cleansing and protection.
3Drops essential oilpeppermint or eucalyptus - for invoking the chill of winter.
1Small offering bread or honeyas a gift to Kari.
Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Sacred Space
Choose a location outdoors or near an open window where you can feel the wind.
Cleanse the space with juniper or cedar smoke, moving in a clockwise direction. Visualize the smoke purifying the area, creating a sacred circle.
Step 2: Aligning with the North
Face the northern direction. Use a compass if needed to ensure accuracy.
Place the candle, bowl of snow or water, and offering on a small altar or flat surface before you.
Step 3: Lighting the Candle
Light the blue or white candle, saying:
“Kari, Sovereign of the North Wind, I light this flame in your honor. May its glow mirror your strength and wisdom, illuminating the path through winter’s embrace.”
Step 4: Offering to Kari
Hold the bowl of snow or water and the offering in your hands, saying:
“O Kari, breath of the frost and master of winter’s storms, I offer this humble gift in reverence to your power. Accept this token as a sign of my gratitude and respect.”
Place the offering on the altar or bury it in the snow as a gesture of connection to the earth and sky.
Step 5: Invoking the North Wind
Stand tall with arms outstretched, feeling the wind on your skin. Say:
“Kari, ruler of the North Wind, Whose breath carves the frozen land, Grant me your strength to endure, Your wisdom to navigate life’s storms, And your protection through the winter’s night.”
Visualize the wind enveloping you in a protective shield, its energy flowing through you like an icy current.
Step 6: Meditation and Reflection
Sit quietly before the altar, listening to the sound of the wind or the stillness of the winter air. Reflect on Kari’s role in the natural world and in your own life.
Breathe deeply, allowing the cold air to invigorate your senses and clear your mind.
Step 7: Closing the Ritual
Extinguish the candle, saying:
“Kari, mighty wind of the North, I thank you for your presence and blessings. May your power guide and protect me through this season of Yule.”
Scatter the water or snow from the bowl onto the earth as a final offering, completing the connection between you and the natural forces.
