  • 1 green or gold cloth
  • 1 candle (white or green)
  • 1 Small bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 bundle mistletoe
  • 1 piece red ribbon or thread
  • Offerings: honey, nuts, or dried fruit
  • Optional: incense or essential oils pine, cedar, or frankincense

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Sacred Space

  • Set up your altar in a quiet, undisturbed area. Spread the green or gold cloth across the surface.
  • Place the mistletoe bundle at the center of the altar, tying it with a red ribbon to symbolize life and unity. Arrange the candle and offerings around the mistletoe.

Step 2: Cleanse the Space

  • Light the incense or diffuse essential oils to cleanse the space and invite sacred energy.
  • Take a moment to ground yourself, breathing deeply to center your energy.

Step 3: Invocation of Mistletoe’s Energy

  • Light the candle and focus on its flame, visualizing its light connecting to the life force within the mistletoe.
  • Speak the invocation:
  • “Sacred mistletoe, herb of the divine,
    Bearer of love and protector’s sign.
    In your leaves, renewal resides,
    Guard this home where love abides.”

Step 4: Charging the Mistletoe

  • Hold the mistletoe bundle in your hands, closing your eyes. Visualize it glowing with vibrant energy, radiating protection and renewal.
  • Speak your intentions:
  • “I charge you with the power to protect and renew,
    To foster love, peace, and harmony true.
    By the magic of Yule, your energy I claim,
    Bless this home in the Old Gods’ name.”

Step 5: Placing the Mistletoe

  • Once charged, place the mistletoe in a prominent location—above a doorway, on the hearth, or as part of your Yule decorations. This placement ensures its energy will radiate throughout your space.

Step 6: Offerings and Gratitude

  • Present the offerings on the altar, saying:
  • “To the spirits of the season and the magic you bestow,
    I offer these gifts in gratitude and reverence, so.
    May this home be blessed and protected in light,
    Through the sacred season and the longest night.”

Step 7: Closing the Ritual

  • Extinguish the candle, giving thanks for the blessings and protection invoked.
  • Sit in quiet reflection, meditating on the energy of the mistletoe and its role in your Yule celebrations.
