Equipment

  • 1 Set of glass or plastic ornaments
  • 1 Small paintbrush or pen
  • 1 Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 5 sticks cinnamon
  • 1 bundle pine sprigs
  • 1 handful dried orange slices
  • 1 handful dried apple slices
  • 1 cup Yule Log Ash
  • 1 ribbon or string

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Sacred Space

  • Find a quiet, dedicated area where you can focus on your crafting.
  • Arrange your materials and light a candle to invite protective energies into the space.
  • Take a moment to center yourself, visualizing your home enveloped in light and warmth.

Step 2: Crafting Protection Baubles

  • Select glass or plastic ornaments as your blank canvas.
  • Fill each ornament with a combination of cinnamon sticks, pine sprigs, dried orange slices, and dried apple slices. Visualize these elements combining to create a powerful protective energy.
  • Seal each bauble with its cap, securing it with ribbon or string.

Step 3: Hanging and Scattering the Baubles

  • Hang the Protection Baubles on your Yule Tree, envisioning the tree as a beacon of harmony and safety.
  • Place additional baubles around the house, focusing on entry points like doorways and windows.
  • As you hang each bauble, say:
  • “By Yule’s light and nature’s grace,
    This home is blessed, a sacred space.
    No harm shall enter, only joy and cheer,
    Protected by the magic of Yule this year.”

Step 4: Inscribing Runes with Yule Log Ash

  • Mix a small amount of Yule Log Ash with water or oil to create a paste (or use black paint).
  • Using a brush or pen, inscribe protective runes such as Algiz (protection) or Eihwaz (endurance) on your doorframes or windowsills.
  • As you draw each rune, speak aloud your intention for protection and safety:
  • “With this rune, I mark the way,
    Protection here shall ever stay.
    By Yule’s fire and ancient lore,
    This home is guarded, forevermore.”

Step 5: Closing the Ritual

  • Return to your altar or sacred space. Offer a small token of gratitude, such as a piece of fruit or a pinch of cinnamon, to the energies of Yule.
  • Extinguish the candle, visualizing the protective magic weaving through your home.
  • Take a moment to sit in quiet reflection, embracing the sense of safety and renewal you’ve cultivated.
