Ritual: Honoring Kari

Introduction

Embrace the Majesty of the Winter Patriarch

As the icy grip of winter tightens its hold, the spirit of Kari, Sovereign of the North Wind, sweeps through the frozen landscapes. A figure of awe and power in Norse mythology, Kari commands the North Wind, orchestrating winter storms and the delicate dance of snowflakes alike. Honoring Kari during the Yuletide season is a ritual that connects us to the raw, elemental forces of winter and the majestic energy of the North. This ceremony calls upon Kari’s strength and wisdom, inviting his protection and guidance during the darkest days of the year.

Ritual Basics

Before beginning any ritual, it is important to prepare yourself mentally and physically. You may want to take a cleansing bath, or shower, and meditate or perform some grounding exercises to center yourself. Gather any materials you will need, such as candles, incense, and offerings for the forest spirits.

The Majesty of Kari

Kari, eldest son of Mistblindi, the frost-giant known as Fornjotr, embodies the unyielding power of winter. His dominion over the North Wind makes him a force of nature, a deity whose presence is felt in the biting cold and roaring gales of the season. To honor Kari is to align with the transformative power of winter, a time for reflection, resilience, and renewal. This ritual bridges the mortal and divine, inviting Kari’s presence into our lives as a protector, teacher, and guide through the harsh yet beautiful season of Yule.
