Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Rolled oats
  • 1/2 Cup Grated carrots

  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 1/4 Cup Whole wheat flour For binding.
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon Adds a festive, warming touch.
  • 1 Tablespoon Water or apple juice To moisten the mixture as needed.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, grated carrots, diced apples, and honey. Mix well to form a sticky dough.
  • If the dough feels too dry, add a tablespoon of water or apple juice to moisten it slightly.

Step 2: Shape the Treats

  • Add whole wheat flour to bind the mixture if needed, ensuring the dough is easy to shape.
  • Take small portions of the dough and shape them into discs or use cookie cutters to create festive shapes like horseshoes or stag antlers.
  • Place the shaped treats onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 3: Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the treats are firm and lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 4: Offering Ritual

  • Once cooled, place the treats outside in a natural space, such as near trees or in a garden, as an offering to the stags and horses of the Wild Hunt.
  • You may choose to say a blessing, such as:
  • “To the noble stags and swift horses of the Wild Hunt, I offer these gifts of nature’s bounty. May your journey be swift, your spirit strong, and your presence a reminder of the magic that dances through Yuletide nights.”
